Home Automation FAQs

Let’s explore a couple of the common questions homeowners ask a home automation electrician in Danvers, MA. Contact us at your convenience with any more questions.

Can you integrate my existing smart devices into a new system?

Yes, we typically can integrate existing equipment into your new system. Open communication and interoperability are among the core goals of smart devices in general. Many new devices support the Matter standard. This open-source protocol allows for better communication. Even if you have pre-Matter devices, there are Matter bridges available to create a unified system.

Do I need special wiring for home automation?

You generally don’t need any special electrical wiring for a smart home system. If you have an older house, you may need to upgrade outmoded components, such as aluminum wiring.

Depending on the scope of your smart home system setup, you may need special cabling. That can include Power over Ethernet (PoE) for cameras and other devices, and low-voltage Cat6 and/or fiber optic cables for data.
